Most students on FortyFive are 16 or 17, and most tutors are people you've never met. So safety comes before features, growth and fees.
Who can tutor
Three ways in, every one checked.
IB graduates, 18 and over
- ID check through DigiLocker
- Background check
- A verified 6 or 7 from the official IB results document
- A teacher's reference
- A 15-minute demo lesson
- Safeguarding training and a signed code of conduct
Graduate tutors, 17
- A verified 7 in every subject they teach
- A parent co-signs their agreement and receives their payouts
- Their own parent sees their lessons and messages too
- A reference from their DP Coordinator or head of school
- The same demo lesson and safeguarding training
- DP students only, online only, and they can't coach coursework
IB teachers
- ID and background check
- Teaching credentials and IB experience
- A reference from their school
- The same demo lesson and safeguarding training
How lessons work
Everything stays on FortyFive.
- Lessons only in FortyFive's lesson room; messages only in FortyFive's chat.
- Phone numbers, emails and social handles are hidden in chat automatically, and repeated tries are flagged to us.
- Lessons for under-18s run between 7 am and 9 pm only.
- No gifts, no social media follows, no meeting in person through FortyFive.
What you see
Every booking, every message.
- You approve and pay for every booking.
- You can read every message, and join any lesson as an observer.
- You choose whether lessons are recorded. Recordings are kept 30 days and opened only if someone reports a problem. Coursework coaching is always recorded and kept until results.
- You get the help log from every coursework coaching session.
After a report
What happens next.
- There's a Report button on every screen, for students, parents and tutors.
- A trained adult reads every report within 24 hours, and anything about a child's safety the same day.
- If a child may have been harmed, we suspend the account, tell the parents and report to the police straight away, as Indian law (POCSO) requires.
- We write down what happened and fix the rule that failed.
